MALTA CAT CLUB

CARING FOR ALL CATS!

NEWSFLASHES!

Malta National Awards announced very soon! Cats must have been shown in Malta and be TICA registered to be able to receive a Malta National Award which is based on the number of Finals made locally.

End of  current 2010 /2011 show season is on 30th April - Reminder to check for any missing points as deadline for corrections must reach TICA by the  7th May.

We will be launching yet another NEW idea very soon!! Keep your eyes peeled on mcc shows page and on FB for more details. This will be another 1st for the club.  We lead - others follow.

Reminder regarding TICA registration, this can be done with either:

A Breeder's signed certified pedigree OR a registration from another club, OR thru a TICA Blue slip. A TICA registration can  cost less than 25 Euros only with the Malta Cat Club! A TICA Blue slip given out by the breeder is proof that the parents are registered with TICA. There is a lot of nonsense going on about pedigrees in Malta. Remember that TICA is an International Organization - our club does not issue peidgrees in Malta, a  TICA registration certificate is issued by an International Organization with over 750 clubs worldwide thru a centralized database which contains thousands of cat breeds from all over the world.

Next show season starts  on Sunday 30th October with our  Popular Halloween show. A TICA SHOW COSTS FROM ONLY 12€ PERSHOW!

Following the sucess of our Bake-a-Cake competition we are again continuing to expand on this very Fun Class for our Exhibitors. Halloween - pumpkin =??? Get ready to find out soon!

We have prepared a new season with all NEW judges! We have announced our show dates at our 27th March show. These are dates decided by MCC months ago and the judges have been confirmed. YOU  DECIDE where you want to show your cats!  Remember with TICA you get a Prestigious Internationally valid Title and opportunities for Regional & International Awards. Everyone is welcome to show with our club under TICA rules.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear  Cat lovers & Friends of the Malta Cat Club,

We hope that you are enjoying the long hot summer! Please remember that cats dehydrate very quickly in the heat so you need to ensure that they are kept cool and that they are drinking enough. It's also a good idea to increase wet food consumption during the summer months. Be kind  to strays and leave a bowl of fresh water outside  for street cats who need to drink in this extreme weather.

A big congratulations to all International & Regional winners with TICA! Congratulations also to all National COTY Award winners!

As you know TICA is THE organization to be in if you want to obtain prestigious Regional & International wins.

And yes  -  TICA  is very competitive but if your cats  can make it in TICA - they will make it anywhere!

Meanwhile we have some more exciting news for you.:

Kindly find attached the Malta Cat Club National Cat of The Year Awards season 2009-2010.
Yet again this season we will be giving out National 'Cat Of The Year' Awards, according to TICA official standings at the end of the show season.   ONLY cats which have been registered as per TICA rules before the 30th April will qualify for the standings. Points for these COTY awards will start  accumulating from the 1st show of the season.

National COTY Awards  will be awarded at our first show of the season which will be a BONUS show at a NEW LOCATION.  We are expecting final confirmation regarding this 6th International Show within the next few days. So...... Dust off your cats, fertilize their fur and come prepared to have a ball, because TICA  is all about FANTASTIC FELINES,  FUN & FRIENDSHIP!  The atmosphere at our TICA shows is truly an enjoyable one and will be even more so in the future......

Our 7th & 8th International shows will be held over the weekend of 30th / 31st October at Inspire Foundation Hall..  The TICA REGIONAL Awards  ( attached) will  be presented at this show. YES it is close to the other one but the 3rd October show will be an extra bonus as we are invited to present a show for a particular activity. So all in all during October YOU will enjoy a total of 10 SEPERATE  TICA shows In under 3 days PLUS the fun classes!

Remember that each Ring is a separate show and each Ring has it's Best Cat/Kitten/Alter/HHP/HHPK.

As from this season ALL Bests' in each Ring will enjoy recognition!!

From this new show season we are also starting some new classes! By popular request we will be having a written evaluation of cats in the  30th /31st Oct Halloween show, while we will be having special fun classes for the 3rd October show.

Our shows are open to ALL  genuine cat lovers with the exception of persons who have been criminally charged  and convicted with offenses against Breeders / Exhibitors or who have attempted to undermine or hinder our club's good work.

NEW THIS SEASON:

We will also be launching a LOYALTY SCHEME for members who show exclusively with the Malta Cat Club!

We will also be launching a NEW  FOLDABLE  SHOW CAGE SCHEME with preference to MCC Loyalty members!

We will also be launching a JUNIOR EXHIBITOR SCHEME to encourage youngsters to enjoy the real cat fancy!

If you want to be a part of it then please request our flyers for the coming shows - these will not be sent automatically to avoid hassling exhibitors. It's your cat and it's YOUR choice where and when to show.    It has been brought to our attention that some individuals pertaining to other cat clubs  have been passing snide comments regarding TICA shows - it is not our club's policy to stoop to this puerile level. Our shows speak for themselves, TICA'S super value for money is well known and no further comments are needed. In case of space restrictions, we may have to make an entry limit so it's always best to book a placement ASAP, cats can then be confirmed before catalogue goes to print. Payment must be made before closing date. Payments made on show day will incur an extra 'late entry' charge.  Special incentives will be on offer for: Kittens from a MCC member with a TICA registered Cattery,   and also for neuter/spayed cats as part of our club's commitment to reduce the stray  cat population.

Kindly note that following the resignation due to pressure of work by Mr Mauro Gasan, the post of Secretary has been taken over by Mrs Keely Carabott, whilst Mr Matthew Briffa is occupying the post of Vice -president. These changes come into effect as from 1st August 2010.

Should you have any queries kindly contact me or any other Committee member, we are here to help you.

Show Entry clerk is Mrs K. Carabott so please address your show entries directly to her.

Our website www.maltacatclub.com will also be updated and re- organized during the summer.

If you would like to help out in any way  on show day please contact us.

We look forward to seeing you again this coming season .

Best regards

SHOWS

With it's 3rd International show the Malta Cat Club has  now actually held the total of  14 seperate shows in all!!

Super value for money for all exhibitors who would have had  to pay for 14 shows under traditional formats at a rate per show! Malta Cat Club shows  actually saves exhibitor's  time & money!

ALL shows by the MCC held under TICA rules are actually INTERNATIONAL shows where ALL titles can be earned in ONE DAY!! In clubs with  the older style of traditional formats TWO judges are needed for an International show. If only one judge is present then show will be downgraded to a National show.

Household pets aka Domestics can ALSO earn a fully certified title with TICA - because TICA is the ONLY organisation that recognises the beauty of these cats.

THE BEST TICA SHOW SO FAR!

Despite an attempt by Kevin Micallef – President of the MFGC where he presented a legal injunction to stop the planned show by the Malta Cat Club which ended up in court and was thrown out by Justice Raymond Pace,  this  show actually  turned out out to be the best show ever for the Malta Cat Club!!!!

The Malta Cat Club's Halloween themed show on Sunday 25th October at Montekristo was a huge success and attracted a record number of visitors to the show! Over 750 visitors took a look at the 50 felines on display.  There were various fun competitions, the participation of 2 SPCA cats, participation of HappyPaws and a truly enjoyable atmosphere for all.

2 cute kittens from the SPCA competed for the first time in a cat show on an equal footing with privately owned cats. One SPCA kitten by the name of SWEEP actually took home the trophy of Best Household Pet Kitten in show to the delight of the SPCA volunteers and therefore promoted the message held by the Malta Cat Club that ALL cats are beautiful in their own way.  The show was also featured on National TV and various other media. See  show photos in Photo Gallery. Exhibitors commented that they had never seen so many visitors at any cat show held over the years!

The 2 Judges from Italy & France were also amazed by the sheer number of visitors who crowded the show hall craning to get a look at the judging in action! Also present in the show hall were representatives of Happypaws and Dogs Trust who promoted their respective aims and purposes. The club also held several fun classes after the judging was over. The 14 Winners of various categories during the previous season 2008 - 2009 were also presented with their awards.

The show sponsors were delighted with the response from the public and the exhibitors presented commented that this was the best show ever from the Malta Cat Club. Whilst over the weekend the Malta Cat Club's website also attracted a record of over 400 hits in two days and the mailbox was jammed with messages of solidarity and encouragement to continue putting up such great shows for the cat loving community to appreciate.

In light of the above, the MCC is now considering increasing the number of shows it holds per season. The TICA show format with multiple shows in one day has proven to be a huge success, both with Exhibitors and the general public who enjoy the fun atmosphere that the Malta Cat Club shows are now known for.
